NET ZERO HEROES

Who are we and why do we care?

It all started with an idea...

Net Zero Heroes grew from an initiative started by members of the Kimbolton Castle Rotary Club and Rotary District 1070 Environment Action Group.

Their idea was that Rotarians should assess their carbon footprint, using a combination of different online tools to self-assess, and then take action to reduce and offset their footprint to reach net zero status.

This idea led to many members of the Rotary taking action to reach (and achieve) net zero. However, many found that the self-assessment process was difficult, fragmented and time consuming.

The existing carbon calculators were all one-off assessments with no way of track progress. Most ignored a persons existing offsetting activities and none took into account the largest source of most people’s carbon footprint: Where their pensions are invested.

This led to the formation of Net Zero Heroes. A platform that not only helps you to assess your true carbon footprint, considering everything that matters, but that then helps you to reduce carbon emissions with personalised recommendations.

Our approach

Net Zero Heroes focuses on impact. We believe meaningful climate action goes beyond small gestures. Rather than relying on guilt or sacrifice, we empower people to make informed choices, support sustainable businesses and direct their spending towards solutions that help build a greener future.

By supporting people with a personalised approach, that not only encourages people to make small changes but helps them to do it, we make reaching net zero and taking climate action simple, practical and effective.

For communities, we offer practical advice, step-by-step guides and resources to help people deliver local environmental projects, strengthen community resilience and create lasting positive change.

Heroes don’t have to be perfect – they just have to start

Who we are

Bryony Doughty

I have been volunteering for different causes just about as long as I can remember, but over the last few years it’s become clear to me that climate change is the issue of our times, and one that needs us all to take action on.

As a charity trustee, and the Co-Chair of my local Rotary Club, I’ve seen first hand how a small group of committed people can help drive change in local communities, and how individuals will willingly step up if the tools are there for them to do so.

In my day job, I work as the Director of Marketing & Communications for a mental health research charity, a role which requires me to be able to communicate complex issues clearly. Before this role I was Head of Marketing for an international NGO, and before that, I launched and grew brands in the extreme sports and travel sector.

Through my work in public engagement I know how many people want to act on the issues they care about, but how easy it is for busy lives to get in the way or for people to feel overwhelmed.

That’s why I’ve founded Net Zero Heroes, a platform that gives people and communities the tools, practical guidance and resources to achieve their net zero targets and build a more sustainable future for us all.
